TherMatrx Thermo Therapy

TherMatrx Thermo Therapy is appropriate for men with symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). TherMatrx is ideal for patients who are interested in a non-surgical treatment and are concerned about treatment safety, sexual side effects, and cost of medications. 1 Additionally, TherMatrx does not prohibit concomitant use with erectile dysfunction medication.

TherMatrx is Best For Patients With:

enlarged prostate
  • Normal bladder function
  • Normal prostate anatomy
  • True BPH:
    • Rule out overactive bladder, cancer, prostatitis
  • Prostates between 30 and 100 grams 1
  • PVR greater than 125 ml
  • American Urology Association (AUA) Symptom score greater than 12
  • Minimum bladder neck to verumontanum length of 3 cm
  • Patients who perform well on medical therapy, but want better symptom relief or want to stop taking medications
  • Patients in early stages of BPH

Patients with these criteria have the best opportunity for:

  • Fast symptom relief 1
  • Long-lasting symptom relief 1, 3

Note: It is important to use the correct catheter size for the best outcomes.

Contraindications

  • Patients with peripheral arterial disease with intermittent claudication or Leriches syndrome (i.e., claudication of the buttocks and perineum).
  • Patients with severe urethral strictures, preventing easy catheterization.
  • Patients with implanted defibrillators, pacemakers, or any other active implant.
  • Patients with a penile or urinary sphincter implant.
  • Patients with a metallic implant in the prostatic treatment area, pelvis, or hip.
  • Patients with a minimum prostatic urethra length < 25 mm and a total prostate volume < 30 or > 100 cc.
  • Patients who have undergone prior radiation therapy to the pelvic region.
